Our Medical Kit Arrives in Lira!

It’s been a while but our container of medical equipment from the UK arrived in Lira in September. That’s more than 8,000 miles and almost three months, but we made it.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to make this happen – the container was filled to the brim with all kinds of things which will be used immediately.  We had rehabilitation aids and toys for the physio department, hospital furniture, uniforms and whole range of medical equipment.  We owe a massive thank you to Shona Mackie, who was there in person to help understand what the items were, and where they could be used for maximum benefit.

Without Shona’s help this would have been impossible!

One emptied, the container will be sold in Lira, and the proceeds will go towards our next project – a fully operational Medical clinic, watch this space for more details!

One brick at a time..!

Here’s the latest view of Margaret’s house in Lira – built with donations from supporters of The Oasis of Life.  We’re helping Margaret build the house she needs, which she can then extend to be the house she wants.

We have 2,776 bricks which have been laid by two builders and two labourers – the foundations have been laid, and the house is already taking shape.  Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the charity to make this happen – it’s a real life-changing opportunity for Margaret and her family.

The cost to date is 740,000 Ugandan Shillings – about £200 – the full breakdown is below
